corvus mutans is an exploration of sound mimicry and mutation. Every crow vocalization in corvus mutans is synthesized from a set of modulated sine tones that were derived from analyzing field recordings of crows. These tones are then assigned and morphed into the harmonics of different notes to assemble a chord.
At the Common Objects “Imaginary Birds” show, corvus mutans is presented as an immersive binaural audio experience using the “tuning fork” speaker housing developed by Alex Nagy.
